As the pandemic hit, the Zettle sellers suffered. As an effort to use the Zettle platform to support our sellers, we created Forever local - a marketplace where sellers could reach customers in the new reality.

Background
As Zettle employees, we regularly got the chance to hack away on projects outside our normal team responsibilities and roadmaps. When Hack Week in March 2020 approached, a few of us came together to explore how we could support the Zettle community. What started as a core group of three quickly grew into a company-wide initiative, engaging 50+ employees across product, design, engineering, support and marketing.
Problem and insights
Many small businesses were forced to flip their sign to Closed permanently, and our sellers were struggling to keep their heads above water. We asked ourselves: How could we help them by connecting them to their local community?
Solution
The Forever Local marketplace brought Zettle sellers together in one place where they could offer their products and services to people in their area. We used our existing brand channels to promote the platform and spotlight our sellers, helping drive visibility and local support when they needed it most.
